What good to vote, since everything is played?
What good rejoinder of his polling station and his letter ballot, since everything is already bent. Since pollsters pretty much know who is going to export, since the vote is unambiguous, since the duties of positions have already begun.
Politicians today do not have the competence to understand and manage the complexity of the files that are needed in our beloved Haiti. Globalization, technological progress, health issues, taxation, foreign trade, education require expertise that elected representatives have not been able to acquire. So they will certainly not be obliged to know everything. They are surrounded by an administration of a battery of advisors. But it is still necessary that they know what it is. Otherwise, it is the administration that takes precedence when it does not bear the responsibility.
Most of the time, the politician pretends to know the records. He feels obliged to give an opinion on everything and anything. Very often a promise he obviously does not hold. At best opinion does not take it seriously, at worst it is in despair or revolt before such clumsiness and incompetence. Because everything is known. A politician can not tell stories.
In Haiti, the most important problems are economic and social. They arise and are resolved in the business and interfere with the functioning of global markets. How many politicians, deputies, senators and ministers have worked in the business? How many have traveled abroad and practiced foreign trade which is the theater of modern warfare? Politicians who have this experience are very few right and left.
Result, politicians are inadequate to the problems. If only they knew as formerly managing opinions, explain to them, take them in their tracks ... If indeed they had the momentum! But this is no longer the case. The means of modern communication require other charismatic qualities. The importance of social networks is that information descends from the top down. But flows transversely. The leader must work differently if he wants to stay connected.
The politician in Haiti made a political career. Politics is his job. The problem is there. To exercise and keeping his job, he needs to listen to its customers, its voters.
As the political market can zap the politician every five years, it has little time to act unless it is to please its customers. What he does. To the right and left, a president, a minister, a deputy will act to consolidate the majority, the sign, to which he belongs.
He will do anything to get elected and reelected. Hence the program and the generous promises. Then he will do anything to stay in power. Results fault, it will make promises again and again and multiply the scapegoats for non-performance. What makes a politician to be able to spend more time to find excuses or reasons for not doing what he should do rather than doing really.
Keynes said very cynically, "Do take care that the short term, long term we will be dead! "
In contexts of rapid growth generating buoyant revenues, one could reason in the short term, today it is no longer possible. Keynes is dead. Politicians do not want to recognize it. They are willing to accommodate all the sauces. A right and left.
This is inefficient and many indications that the public opinions that have outbreaks of populist fever or extremism are also ready to buy a discourse of truth. What they did not before, it's true. In short, they expect politicians just under short-term invalidity for more long-term results. It would still not difficult as trying.
